“For 10 years, I dispensed various medications to children and adults managing my own traditional pharmacy. As much as I loved it, as a PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy), I felt there was more I could do. Instead of treating patient’s illnesses with commercial medications typically given in a “same dosage fits all’ methodology, I wanted to go the extra mile for my patients in finding long-term solutions by targeting the root of their problem—then customizing their medication specifically for them. In my journey, I discovered “Compound Pharmacy” and today, my patients have never been happier.”

What is a

Compounding Pharmacy?

Over the last century, retail pharmacies, with their ease of receiving medications in bulk orders and dispensing them in standardized doses, became more mainstream. But compounding pharmacies have been around longer than retail pharmacies. It’s appeal to many is the compound pharmacist’s ability to customize medications that are specific to a patient’s needs based on their physician’s prescription. A major benefit to this is the compounding pharmacist’s ability to adjust the dosage of the patient’s prescription to fit the patient’s needs, as opposed to giving a patient medication that only comes in standard strengths. This lessens the chances of overmedicating a patient, many times even reducing side effects by eliminating unnecessary ingredients.
